and have a question to ask about it - or, should I say, about the included Cubase LE software. I tried, more than once, to get Cubase properly installed on my system - but could not do so. Each time I went through the process (as to the letter of the instructions) the program would seem to want to open, for about a second, then just drop back out. Following, is the error message that I'd always receive:

Windows cannot find F:\CubaseNotSilent/Cubase_LE.exe. Make sure that you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search.

I have done the forward slashes, the back slashes, the checking & rechecking of my spelling - yet all has been to no avail. I would like to know if any other Omega owners had experienced encounters with such as this. If so, how did you overcome the problem?

Did you get that problem figured out?

I've got a mate who wants to get one of these units.

Is it working out well for you?

Hi,

No...I haven't conquered that problem as yet. I was recently in communication with Lexicon tech support, who took the stance that there was something wrong with my computer - rather than the software disk. But they are going to ship out another disk to me. If the same thing happens with the next disk, then the only thing I will know to do would be within formatting my system.

As far as the Omega, itself, goes - I can't really speak for how well it goes about doing what it does, because I haven't really had the chance to kick its tires. I am sure, though, that this unit will serve its purpose quite well. With the price I paid ($260/ with a $50 manufacturer's rebate) I just can't see any way that I could have went wrong.

Is the F: drive one of your hard drives/partitions? Just curious if the shortcut is looking in the correct location. Oftentimes the e: and/or f: drives are a CD-Rom/DVD drive that's used to install the software.
Is the software installed to the F: drive? Have you tried locating the installation on your hard drive and starting it directly from there (rather then a desktop shortcut)?

Good luck! And let us know how it all turns out!

F:\ (or other appropriate drive letter) CubaseNotSilient\Cubase_LE.exe

Hey Krag, - and thanks for your input also.

The "E" & "F" drives, on my system, are of the optical nature ("F" is my cd-rom drive, and "E" is my dvd/cd writer combo unit). Double-clicking on the Cubase installation folder would not afford any favorable results, and Lexicon's tech support advised me to go to START>RUN> and type in (drive letter +) :\CubaseNotSilient\Cubase_LE.exe. But, hitting the 'enter' button, after doing this, served only to produce the same negative results. The most that I could ever get was a brief splash of that bluish-grey color of Cubase's installation screen. Then it was back to the desktop. Someone suggested that I try to install the program on another computer, to see if the same problem would surface. Well, just a short while ago I attempted it on my mother's computer - and guess what? That program started the installation process without the slightest hitch. I was afraid of that, because the situation now translates into the formatting of my computer. That, in and of itself, is not such a problem, because I like to do it on a periodic basis anyway. It's just that I am SOOOOOO anxious to get busy with this Omega box :) . Oh well.

Yes...I did indeed get the problem squared away (had to format my system). All is fine, now, and I have had a little time by which to play with the 'Omega'. I think that I may have to incorporate my Presonus single channel mic pre into this mix, but - all in all - I am very pleased with it. Tell your friend it is my opinion that he can't go wrong with it.

I just purchased myself a Lexicon Omega for Christmas, and am getting ready to begin my journey into madness! :D

If F: is your CD-Rom Drive it's understandable where the problems are coming from. It should have default installed to C:\Program Files\CubaseNotSilent\ Look there for the Cubase_LE.exe program and double click on it from there and see if it runs.

If not, uninstall Cubase from your system and reinstall. MAKE SURE IT INSTALLS TO C:\PROGRAM FILES\..

If you're running a MAC, all bets are off...
