In all honesty, they are near the bottom of the totem pole as far as recording quality, and your guitar is out of tune in the songs I listened to. As far as demo'ing a song, I suppose something this simplistic could work, but it is pretty raw as is. I realized you probably put your heart and soul into these, and commenting with such negative feedback isn't always the easiest thing to do either. I'd keep pluggin' away, and use your playbacks with a critical ear to train yourself where your flaws lie. Do you hear the out of tune guitar?...can you hear the off pitch singing?... If so, you know where to correct them, and hopefully how. If you can't, keep listening to a lot of music, and work on those ears.

thanks for the post! :)

Welcome to the board. It is a large request to ask people to listen to 9 songs. I listened to part or all of most of them. I am not sure if you are wanting advice on the songs, performances, the recording quality, or all three? I'll give you my thoughts on each. Brace yourself.

Songs: Lyrically, the songs are very bland. Nothing really jumps out at me. The 'Tsunami Song' is about one of the greatest global tragedies in recent memory, yet, your song failed to convey any of the emotional gravity of this event. I am not moved or touched in any way by this music. The rhymes are very forced throughout and the lyrics cover just about every cliche I can think of. Cry'n Over You and Wastin' Time are about the only songs with any lyrical potential, but they need some serious work.

Performances: Your voice is off key more than it is on. It has no warmth to it, whatsoever. You would greatly benefit from voice lessons if you want to pursue music seriously. The guitar playing is consistently drab throughout. There are plenty of sour lead notes. Every song sounds exactly the same.

Recording Quality: All the guitars sound as if they were recorded direct (i.e. --no amps), which makes for a very nasty sound to my ears. DI'd acoustic guitars are shrill and unpleasant. Do yourself (and your listeners) a favor and invest in some microphones to record your acoustic. The vocal is too loud. There are noticeable plosives and clipping. You need to add a little reverb and compression to the vocals to make them fit better into the context of the songs.

You may think my analysis is too harsh. However, since you are offering these recordings up for sale, I presume you have some musical aspirations and want an honest opinion. Anyway, hang around here and read as much as you can about recording and mixing. Practice the techniques you learn. You have plenty of room for improvement.
