I have no idea if this will work... please help me!

I am wanting to hook an equalizer up to my digital mixer, but the mixer only has a 1/4" jack and the equalizer has the red and white 1/8" (I think) jacks. So I was wondering if I could get two cords, one with 1/8" female jacks and a 1/4" male jack for the output and one with 1/8" male jacks and a 1/4" female for the input for instruments and what-not. Obviously I am quite lost when it comes to electronics and hooking stuff up, and I don't want to spend money on the cords if they won't even work. So please help, and I'll be your best friend!

Check the EQ again, if they're red and white, they're probably what are called RCA jacks--or common speaker plugs. And yes you can do this. I used to hook a consumer stereo style equalizer with RCA jacks up to my mixer using cables that were 1/4" on one end and RCA on the other.
