I'm just starting into the world of digital recording. I downloaded a trial version of CoolEdit 2000. I can record and play back WAV's and even record vocal. But, when I try to record in the Multitrack mode I can't record and playback at the same time. The application says "That device is being used." My system is an AMD K6 450 on a Trinity 100AT with 128 megs of RAM. My Sound Card is an Anvance ALS100+. It is a stand alone card and the specs say it is a full duplex. Do I need Another card or is this one sufficient? Please help me.

Thanks in Advance

I'm guessing your sound card isn't full duplex, i.e. can't play and record at the same time. If it's a cheapo card that came with your system, I'd suggest replacing it with a better card. Price range $30 - $1000+. The ALS100 may be built-in to your motherboard. If this is the case you may want to see if you can disable it via the BIOS. If not, you can disable it in device manager and maybe work around it that way.

Creative Ensonic's and Live!'s are popular for the lower price range.
