I have a Roland CUBE-30X Guitar Combo Amplifier, can it use distortion pedals

Hi, I have a Roland CUBE-30X Guitar Combo Amplifier and need some help. My friend told me since it's a combo amp, it isn't compatible with distortion pedals.

I dont see how that's possible but would like to know if this is true or not. I would love to get a heavier, more piercing sound on my guitar so would like some good distortion pedal recommendations too. Preferably of ones below $200. That is if my amp can even use them

but doesnt it have amp models and distortions built in?

Yes it does, but they're not to my exact liking and want to improve the sound. I use the distortion at the fullest, and still I don't feel it sounds that heavy. Like I want a hard rock heavy sound. I just hope I can get that with a distortion pedal
