Hope I'm posting in the proper area:

I am a somewhat of a novice, & I use the old Cakewalk 9 software.

Why is it that my MusicMatch Jukebox can record audio in .wav or mp3 for several minutes (seems like forever) w/o a glitch, but Cakewalk will only give me about 20 seconds or so & then starts popping & skipping? I'd love for CW to behave the same as MM.

Any answers/fixes?

Thanks!

CF

I have an emachines PC with 191MB RAM, Celeron processor (can't find any specs on it), 30 GB drive.

Windows ME

My condolensces...

Windows ME is the absolute worst OS ever released. The SB16 is a very antiquated souncard as well. This combined with the fact you have an older Celeron system isn't helping.

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 was the first Cakewalk product to really rely on WDM drivers rather than MME. Creative has no clue when it comes to writing decent WDM drivers and the fact is the SB16 was never intended to be used in the manner you describe.

Your alternatives are to switch PA9 to MME driver mode or upgrade your soundcard and system to something more substantial.

Sorry, brzilian, but you're wrong about Cakewalk Pro Audio and WDM drivers. It was SONAR 1 that first had WDM support. So this is not the issue facing cakefoundry.

For your processor specs, right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.

Thanks -

I checked the properties like that earlier, but all it said was "Intel Celeron Processor". Underneath it says "191.0MB RAM"

Am I missing something?

If you don't mind taking the time, can you explain how to switch PA9 to MME driver mode?

Thanks again,

CF

cakewalk 9, that's a pretty old school program. I thought it was already in MME? to my understanding MME was the default of that program.

Yeah, I'm a pretty old school guy with a poor school budget. :)

Any suggestions on any other recording software that might be more compatable with my crappy PC?

I recorded these songs with this software/PC - www.zebox.com/walkingwounded , and it has been a real drag doing so.

Thanks,

CF
