i have a mixing board with a pre amp i dont know how to use

i have the fallowing:

MACKIE 1642-VLZ PRO and it has a pre amp on it. i dont know how to work it. could someone please go into detail on how to work it? thanks

The trim should amplify the mic line input unless you need phantom power which is usually a button to engeage.

plug in the mic if the mic's a condenser push the phantom power button turn up the trim

i meant i dont know how to use the pre amp. i kno whow to work the mixing board. i just dont know how to work the pre amp.

There's nothing to work. The preamps are built into the mic inputs. Each input has a preamp. Otherwise the mic would make no noise. Just plug in and turn up the trim. That works the preamp. Maybe there's something I'm missing here.
