I have a listening distance of about 7 feet.

Would you recommend midfieald or nearfield monitors ?

Why so far? Is that the only way you can achieve an equilateral triangle between the speakers and the listening position?

I could place them on the desk beside the computer display with a master keyboard but it would be more comfortable and away from the walls if I use the room.

I have music I love, even a few vinyls and would like to use them as well for listening to them.

Well, it would definitely be preferable to put them on stands rather than on the desk. As for which ones you need, I think Lt. Bob would be more qualified than I to answer that question.

Not quite sure I'm understanding your rooms layout. Got a pic or drawing?

my new 1-room apartment is 11,5 x 16 feet with sleeping couch and a desk + cabinet. At this moment all is chaos and I can not find anything, because the helping hand mixed all things together.

My idea had been of a small basic studio, I would place the mixer like a couch desk.

I can't imagine that nearfield monitors wouldn't do the trick. You would ordinarily be mixing at around 80 dB SPL. Small speakers are usually sufficient to blow the roof off of a small apartment.

Nearfield...but it really depends on the speaker model. A lot of monitors are called nearfield or midfield...yet they all sound different and perform differently.

You don't have a very large room setup for true midfield monitors...IMO.

Nearfields should do it. My listening distance is pretty similar and I use nearfields. My volume is only at a quarter of the capacity. You could probably be 11 feet away.

16 foot room = 6 (6.08)' from the short wall. NF's a foot away from the wall will give you a 5' triangle.

THAT SAID: you could also be 6' from the rear short wall and use full-range, normal throw, normal dispersion speakers. You won't have room for much else in the room though...
