If I was to show y'all the type of DAW systems I have would anyone be able to walk me through set up?

I use Ableton, and sometime Reaper. On Reaper, there are folks here that really know it.

I've used Reaper since 2015. Before that I had some early versions of Cubase LE (v 1, 3 and 4).

Setup should be pretty straightforward, once we know what hardware you are using for a recording interface. If you are just mixing things down, it's even easier.

In another topic she has detailed she is at film school but hasn't yet got to grips with a DAW.
I think shes a bit computer phobic, to the extent she doesnt know how to get the computer to connect to the outside world.

Sotangi first thing is to tell us what gear you have. You have a computer. Do you have an interface? This allows you to connect headphones, speakers, microphones and other gear. Theyre not too expensive. Download two or three free trials of DAWs. There is no best one, but some work better for some people. I have used Cubase for nearly 30 years. It is not the best, but its best for me.

Tell us what you have in terms of gear. Computer and musical gear. Tell us what you wish to record and how you intend doing it. Tell us about how you would like to work and what kind of music it is. We know you play guitar and sing, so if you want to record an acoustic guitar with a mic, you might need two mics if you want to do the, at the same time? Give us some info and we will try to help.
