referring to the website, it does look second rate. however what advantages does it offer over the leading multitrack softwares out there? say paris or pro-tools ect...

Scriabin - can you do a little work yourself? read up on the specs of the systems, then you'll find it easy to see.

Sjoko2 - about your idea of using a cheap analog mixer as a low cost solution to getting decent mic pre's is great - it is something I had been considering myself. I am planning on getting a Yamaha 02R for my studio but I belive I will need better mic-pre's. At the moment I cannot afford the 02R and I am am considering something like the A&H or a 1604 for use as my mixer for now then using it in line in front of the 02R later until I can afford better pre's.

My question is: in the sub 1K range, do you think the A&H pre's are better then the Mackies? or even still, better then the ones in the 02R?

Thanks

Hey longsought.

I'm very happy you cannot afford the O2R ;)
At least we're in time to stop you buying one.
The O2R was one of the first 8 bus digital consoles, its not very user-friendly (compared to most other ones) and above all - it does NOT sound good! The pre's are crap, and the whole thing is outdated in every way.
If you want something similar, but MUCH better to use and MUCH better sounding, look at the Panasonic WR-DA7, which not just outperforms the O2R, it slaps it silly left and right. On top of that, its got pretty decent pres.
In addition you can use a faderbank of the Panasonic as MIDI controlers, you can use a faderbank as a DAW controller, its extremely versatile.

If you get something like the DA7 you won't really need a console, unless you want to bus in groups of keys or something like that. But yes, the A&H pres are better, and the EQ is substantially sweeter sounding.

Skjoko2 - LOL! :)

Thanks for the feedback. I check out the DA7.

sjoko, i really enjoy your comments on this site and have learned alot from you, so why are you being an ass? any company will hype their products with spec's, making them sound great. sure i can read specs but i'd like user input more importantly. forget it.

Am I being an ass? I gave my opinion, that's all. One thing you can count on, I won't give an opinion on things I have not used and heard. I have a very large Pro Tools system right here, I have used Paris, I have Logic, Cubase and a bunch of others.
Then - I give you my opinion - in this case if I had the choice for my own use, I'd use SAW in a DAW, instead of Paris, Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools- the latter costing just under 10k.

If you want me to detail the differences, I'd be writing an endless essay, not something I could do in a couple of hours. So - my advise is read the spec, do your homework, then, if you have specific questions, you can ask.

If that's being an ass - I'm a big one:D

I am loving all the feed back you guys are give each other. Can anyone give me a link to Panasonic WR-DA7 price.
Peace to all.
