I Got Dem Ol' Bass Amp Blues Again, Mama

Just another guy, really.
Picking up a new bass student, who is buying my only bass amp- a Fender Frontman 25B. Great opp. to upgrade, methinks. Now, I'm not so sure...

Thought I wanted something around 50-65 watts, single 10 or 12. Today I auditioned a USA-made Ampeg, a SWR LA-10 and -12, and an Ibenez, all fit those and other- smallish cab, tilt back (except the LA's), line-out, etc. Budget is $150 or less- used, most all those amps fit in that budget.

Pleased enough with the tone, but the volume was disapointing. I know, only 50-65 watts, but I was expecting a noticeable difference from the 25B. A bud has offered his Fender Rumble 210 (100 watts) and I am tempted- he's asking $225, but I am hoping he can go $150.

Any input? Thanks.

if he'd go 150 I'd hit it
 
He said no at $150, ball's in my court. Would $175 be a good/fair price? I don't want to pay $200.

Honestly even at 200 Bennys the Fender Rumble is a good deal. it has some really good features that you are not going to get on any new Combo amp at that price Passive/Active Switch, Mid Scoop Button, 4 band EQ, Volume EQ (Low, Low/Mid, High/Mid, High) CD Input, Effects Loop: Preamp Out, Power Amp In, Headphone Jack, Line Level Control, XLR Line Out, Ground Lift Switch I would throw down 175 and if he dont bite throw down another 25 and go home with a really good little amp that is if it has been taken care of.
 
I almost cry when I see the prices you folk quibble over. Down under I couldn't buy the Fender amp logo for the money you want to pay for the entire amp.
Lucky, lucky you. Play through the amp, if it does what you want & is in good nick bite the bullet & offer him $200 - that way you don't offend your friend & get a good amp.

DAYUM it sounds like merchants gouge the consumers pretty deep down under:eek: I would fricken move to some place not so down under:p
