If you stole it...whatever...but you should know better than to let everybody know about it here....Thats just asking for a flame war...

Tell you the truth I don't give a damn about what noone says you can call me whatever because it's only one person that can judge me or call me anything so all of yall can kiss you know what and It don't bother me because since I've posted this you don't know how many ppl asked me for the Serial Number because they just have the demo version so whatever yall say it's yalls opinion but at least I am admitting that I got the Serial Number from somewhere else and why pay for something that can be free I don't have all kinds of money to spend on programs my money goes on my equipment

Hey look I think your missing the point. Im not having a go at you personally. Just telling you that admitting to stealing, on the internet is not a real smart thing to do.

As for the why pay for it when you can steal it, well you can live your life that way. Your choice. But now that I know your a thief, I won't give you any advice on anything.

And as for not having the money to afford software.....
Well I can't affors a Neuman U47 mic either. And Im not going to steal one.

You're being very oportunistic. I bet if a 50 dollar note fell out of the back pocket of some old lady that you'd just pick it up and keep it without telling the old lady.

RD423 - you should also know that not everyone here shares the same opinion on sharing software as some of the more outspoken ones. I don't think anyone is going to really get seriously down on you for merely the fact that you are using software that you didn't pay for simply because you are (OK well there are some here that will, it personally doesn't bother me). Like some of the others were getting on to, bragging or even really bringing it up around here is not a very smart move you have to understand. Sure maybe you can't afford some of this software but likewise many others can't either. They may save up for it when they could get a pirated copy just as easy as you could (do you think these people are that stupid that they can't find a pirated copy if they wanted?). You have to understand that many people are from the school of thinking that the people that create this software deserve the money that is asked for this and do not use pirated software as a matter of principal. These are many of the same people that won't share MP3s but rather go out and buy the CD to support the artist.

When you use words like you've used in this thread you thumb your nose at their ideals and believe me you won't make any friends around here. This is a good place to get and share very useful information and possible make a few friends to go along with it. Just take this as helpful advice from a few people that have been around this board for a while. I've seen too many people barge in to this board shooting their mouths off and get chased off as fast as they came in.

Oh Good Lord Almighty!!!

I thought this thread was to bolster RATS on finally getting CEP2...

RATS -- How have you been doing with CEP2? Anything you have questions about? Rmember, others most like have had the same experience, and can benefit from knowledge.

RD423 -- There has been a *hacker's creed* for many years. It is kind of an unspoken rule of ethics. Basically, once you find an application useful to you means, and something you come to rely on, that is the time you make yourself legit. No business can justify the use of any unregistered software product that they find useful in the daily operations of their business.
Treat others as you would expect to be treated yourself, and the world is a better place... one person at a time. Good luck to you in your endeavors...

Syntrillium -- Thank you for a most *COOL* and affordable audio product! It has brought me much enjoyment, as well as a bases for a hobby/business.

To tell you the truth I don't care about making friends on here because after reading a lot of the replies that ppl give to some questions it doesn't really help me so if I got questions and it's serious ones I go to studio's around my area and talk to them about it so making friends on here is nothing to me I am a loner anyways

Lets move on...

Has anyone tried the "Red rover" control unit? Looks useful, I wonder if makeing something similar would be better spent reasorces. Any opinions?

I think syntrillium should ditch the red rover concept and develop something more usable and comprehensive like steinberg's houston. Not that thats an ideal unit but more in the ballpark. Red rover is a toy about $80 overpriced.

Something like the Houston would require some very intensive program modifications/re-design. CEP is not conducive to hardware controllers at all. Hell, the on screen mixer doesn't follow any automation whatsoever and the program automation can't follow MIDI continueous controller information. Only program changes. For the money, CEP is fine... if you need extensive controller automation, go with something more robust like Cubase, Nuendo, Logic, etc.

I have a Red Rover [hate the name] with CEP 2.0 and it's worth the $90 I paid for it. Now I think I'll go to the Tascam 428 since it supports CEP and I want MORE KNOBS! But after 2-1/2 years of MouseMixing a box is fine....

For me, I think the chief advantage of something like Red Rover would be that I could ride the faders when mixing. But the RR doesn't have faders, it has knobs. What's it like 'riding the knobs'?

Gee, that sounds rude... :D

Serious questions hey. like when you asked what a vocoder is the other day.

Now, now, boys... :D

Anyway, I didn't even know Cool *had* a vocoder until RD pointed it out.

Anyway #2: you got a Red Rover, Scott?

Dobro, no I don't have a red rover. My computer and drums and guitar amps are in the same room pretty close so I don't really need to rove much. But then again if it does realtime envelope volume and pans, well I might just have to try that?

Comment

I am glad that you tried to answer my question but anyway comparing the answer's that I read and different articles that I read on different sites they were conflicting a little bit so it still left me a lil confused about it but like I said I am very glad that you did try to help

I just got it too! Last night as a matter of fact - I haven't used it. Looks complicated and I don't feel like reading the Help File either, so I'll keep using nTrack for a while. :p
Still, all that complicated looking stuff must mean it's better than nTrack.... right??? ;)

To anyone that has Red Rover is it worth it because it only shows one track at a time when I think it should at least show to that way when your panning left and right it would be easy to compare and maneuver but I would like opinions about this before I buy because I have been looking into it for about a month now but no one really has it and what are the pros and cons of it

I take it you are referring to cool edit pro 2.0 that you just picked up? Although I haven't used N-track I can say that cool edit pro is an extremely user friendly program and very easy to pick up and learn, especially if you have some software based recording experience one one level or another. The general consensus on this forum that I've read seems to agree with this! Cool Edit Pro 1.2 was the first multitracking and wave editing program I've used and I can contest that it was very easy to get up and going with. There are still a lot of things I have to learn about recording and mixing in general, but this is a great platform and the help I've gotten here on this board has been key as well.

Comparatively I've diddled a bit with Cubase as well and I think I prefer the simplicity of Cool Edit but Cubase definitely has a leg up on Cool Edit with some of it's features.

i have used the new and old cool edit..........i like the new one because you can do more with it, but dislike it because it seems to run slower that the old one.............I was using it at the radio station i work at and on the same computers the new one ran slower than the old.............It's good stuff though, if you've got the computer for it.
