Legend in Own Mind
Man, I'm just posting this to brag a little. My Budda Superdrive 30 Series II 2x12 just got delivered yesterday. WOW!

I've been playing guitar for 15 years. I've owned many different amps all low to mid-level price ranges. My previous amp was a Marshall 100 watt valvestate combo. This is my first high-end guitar amp and I'm stoked! I've been looked at getting a new amp for 2 years and the Budda has been on the top of the list.

What's funny is I had never test-driven a Budda-- it was like a very expensive blind-date. I have downloaded sound samples, listened to guitarists who use Budda amps (e.g., Matchbox 20), and read everything I could find on these amps. I wanted an amp with some soul and something different than the Marshall/Boogie mainstream amps. I was a little nervous plugging in my guitar... but, luckily, I was not disappointed. This thing rocks! It's everything I want in an amp. The tone is orgasmic!

Don't get me wrong... there's a couple of nit-picky things I could complain about... but none of them have to do with the tone-- the tone is soooo SWEET!

I might record a little sample of it to post here... but I doubt my newbie recording skills could capture the honey dripping out of these speakers.

My fingers hurt but I've got to go play some more... this amp makes me want to jam!

CONGRATS!

you'll have that amp for the rest of your life.

damn, i wish i could find a new amp that made me feel that good.

You want to feel good at a great price, try one of the Gibson Goldtone series. Those are incredible amps. I have the GA15 RV and feel the same way Scottgman does about his Buddha.

Thanks man! I can see myself at 60 playing this amp (I'm 30)... heh. The clean is very nice, plenty of headroom so far-- I haven't cranked it yet though. But you can get some grit pretty easily on the clean channel if you want it. It sounds tight.

The drive channel is very nice as well and seems to be very versatile. It seems to sound good no matter how I turn the dials... but there are definately some sweet spots.

I was really curious if 30 watts was going to be enough to compete with drums, but this thing is LOUD. I haven't ventured past 10 o'clock on the master volume yet and I know my neighbors have heard me playing. I might have to look into a Hot Plate for recording.

Cheers!

Scottgman, I see an amp modeler in your future. Those Buddhas are loud. Great amps, but really powerful. Even my amp, which is 15 watts, is too loud for my apartment, and I have a switch that brings it down to 6 watts. I know of guys that gig with the amp on the 6 watt setting. I hope the hot plate works for you.

No kidding. I think this 30 watt amp is louder than my 100 watt Marshall. It's amazing what they are doing with this wattage. I did a test recording a little while ago, I think I'll be alright (even better with something like a hot plate)... but I definitely won't be doing any late night recording sessions with this Budda.

I've been thinking about buying one of those amps for about 2 years now, but nobody stocks them. Where did you get your's from?

www.samash.com

They had one in stock, $1599. The guy said they usually have to order them. That is much cheaper than ordering direct from Budda.

I was in the same boat. I'm in Oklahoma and I don't think there is a music store in the state with a Budda amp for sale.

Congrats , in my 20 yrs. of playing I've never found an amp I really loved.Just curious, what kind of guitar are you running through that thing?

Thanks man. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't like Budda amps. But for me... this is the tone I was looking for.

I play a couple of early 1980's Ibanez Artists. One has EMGs (60 and 81) and the other has some Lace humbuckers.

If you aren't familiar with Artists, they look and feel (and sound) just like a Les Paul except the Artist has a symmetrical double cutaway. I love the Les Paul sound-- just not the price. I've played many Les Pauls and I think the Artist feel and sound is identical.
