i give up - boogie rec/pre bottom end
i just spent all f'n day trying to get my mesa preamp/recording to sound as good as the sample on the bogner site that george lynch did.
so...you guys are right. direct sucks. i have nothing but a big fat fart at the bottom end. i para'd it (tc g-force, everything else off), switched channels (raw/vint/moderrn) , i eq'ed/no eq'ed (flat on the boogie, cutting/adding treble/mid/bass), i gained/no gain/ i played with every knob on this thing. for hours while listening to the bogner mp3...and got nowhere. changed a lot...never got as dynamic as the bogner.
i'm guessing the bogner was miked.
big fat sigh.
long/mcquade can get me a 20/20 and a 2/12 in six week...for $1500...but is that the problem??? me? the boogie?
the reason i'm bummed and confused is, i'm not even talking about *recording* yet, just getting a sound to come out of my speakers that sounds as good as the silly bogner demo.
i'm still playing with this thing, not getting anywhere. how can it be my soundcard? - if the mp3 sounds great, then a $2000 preamp made for recording should sound just as good. and i know that the 2 amps are different, but there is no comparison as far as clarity goes in the bottom end. i hate to say it, but the boogie is just farting down there.
i thought it sounded SO GOOD until i tried to equal the sonic quality of a good recorded tone (the bogner george lynch demo). now i'm not so sure...
Blah!
