Thanks Fam.I'm still doin my thing. Its my area that has me frustrated.I'm not stoppin but I will be a better judge of people. Its real hard now in my city and people are half steppin. They dont have the same motivation that I have.i wouldve been satisfied bein local but I get more love from everywhere else.Damn shame. This is a self hating place. If you from here you ain't gon make it.That's what people think. But I still keep reppin.Guess I'm a have to prove them wrong.

That's the same way I felt about D.C. before I moved down south.

can u tell us wat happened....... i kno cats like me with little to no experience could really use info like that so we know what to look out for and not go down that same road....

oh and from the little experience i have thats the bizness for u.... its cut throat everybody feel they gotta prove they better then the next man......

Alright here it go.I've sold some tracks here and there.Dudes loved them and all that.My problem was with people that are prejudice against what i use and where I come from.Detroit and FL are death words it seems.Locally you can have a tight ass beat but if you tell somebody you from here they like its okay.Say its from somebody out of state and they like damn.Same goes with FL if I said I made it on an MPC then its cool but if I say FL then you get the eye roll.Fake ass people. If the beat hot then its hot.It gets tracked out just like any other beat.To get more love from out of state then locally is just unbelievable to me.But now I want to be worldwide one day just to show people here that somebody can really do somethin and its okay not to hate yourself. The other thing was that I try to build some kind of business relationship with my clients that way we can help each other out.I'll help promote you.But some take that for granted and really be frontin. This one dude is supposed to be a ceo of a label and he stalling me out talkin bout money issues.I aint no Timberland or Pharell over here. All I'm charging is around 200 to 300 for a track.I asked this dude what he does to promote and he said he was gettin around to it.I asked about open mics and he said that he can't be doing that because of the image thing.Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't performing and getting your name out the best way to promote yourself.Him saying that he was too good for open mics made me not want to sale him the track.am I wrong for that ?Its seems like he not serious and I don't want a tight track just sitting there not getting any publicity. How do y'all feel about that.

How do you promote yourself?

I'm not an expert so I want to know what ways do you promote your music.

i been in situations close to this but as somebody said earlier a lot of cats in the south do seem to work better and harder together..... basicly wat i would say to that is either A) work solo sell as many tracks as u can to who ever you can... no matter wat the doin wit the track or how far they goin when it come down 2 it its still money in your pocket and as long as u got a contract or whatever even if they use it years from now your name is still on it so it dont matter... or B) keep working and find you some cats who serious about this music thing..... relationships aint built just from sellin a few tracks it takes time just like anything else.. everybody dont have the same goals as you so u just gotta work and find a few that do if thats the route u wanna go.....

this is all my opinion and im not experienced with this so take it for what it's worth

If U Sellin The Track U Really Shouldnt Care - Take The Money N Go - Esp. If U Leasin It Non-exclusive But I Would Imagine With All That Attitude He Probably Wanted To Buy It Strait Out

$ Is $ !!!!! Make More Hot Beats N Sell Em!

As Far As Not Doin The Open Mic Thing - Really To Each His Own. I Really Like Doin Open Mics, But I Have Never Done An Open Mic Where The Mic N Sound System Were Worth 2cents - It Really Becomes A Painstakin Process With Dissappointing Results (for Me, Anyhow). Sure, I Get More Stage Performance Practice. But I Want A Maaphucka To Hear My Lyrics - It Aitn Gon Happen Round Here Till "we" (va Indie Artists) Get That "next Step" Mentality Where We Can Book Our Own Venues N Set Up Our Own Shows - That Aitn Really Happening -

Plus - A Lot Of Times - The Only Folk That Show Up To Open Mics Are Other Indie Artists - Who Really Tend To Have Some Of The Biggest Egos . . . (and I Can Recognize My Own Hubris As I Say This) Not Likin Dudes On Stage And Criticizin Them - Although A Lot Of That Can Be Discarded As Competitiveness . . . Its Really Hard To Get A Non-artist Music Fan To Come Out To Open Mics . . . And Until U Get Those People At Open Mics . . . Open Mic = Practice . . . Not Really "fan Base" Buildin . .

I agree with all the comments..posted..

might comment later today

I won't do open mics either. There was a point in time where I did, but I'm way passed that now.

Reek, seriously... if you want some local cats to work with, who are serious about it, you have to go to shows, and hand out some CD's with snippets of beats on em. Go to shows at real spots... Hook up with serious folk. They won't come to you... you have to go to them.

Or you could just supply me with all the beats I need. I'm local. :D

You know what? It's the same EVERYWHERE. In the major studios, clients come in and say, hey you got Pro Tools Setup? And if you don't, they tend to be disappointed, and also they ask, DO you have the SSL console? If they didn't, say they have a Neve console, they get disappointed too.

Heres some rules I've learned. NEVER tell your client, what exactly your working with. If it sounds tight, leave it like that, and that's all they need to know really. They don't need to know how exactly you come up with that tight shit, or where your from. That's illrelevent to the customer buying the beat. That's straight up. They are starting to intergrate FL into pro-studios now, because so many people use the program, and it's becoming verstile.
