Around Saturday afternoon, me and my friend just started jammin when he busted one of his bass strings. He didn't have anymore on him (of course!) and his car was in the shop, so I ran him down to the guitar shop which is only about a 5 minute drive from my apartment. Walking in, I had the mindset to only get a pick for myself since mine are all worn down to dull nubs and there I saw her. As soon as I walked in and turned my head, it was like this burst of sunlight had blown through dark clouds during a thunderstorm and stopped all the rain! It was a ARBOR Les Paul Classic "Copy" with a beautiful polished cherry sunburst finish, silver humbuckers and dark gold knobs. Even more-so what caught my eye was the price tag, rather not how expensive but how much it was marked down! They had it listed as $400, but reduced it down to $230!
After standing there with my jaw wide open in awe, listening to this beautifuly rendered peice of gear beckoning me subconsciously to play it, I picked it up and walked over to the cashier asking if I could take it for a test drive. After playing it for no more than 10 minutes plugged in, I knew what had to be done. Of course, my friend was absolutely no help in regards to helping me not blow money on impulse buys:

"WOW DUDE! WHAT A GREAT BUY!"

"HOW CAN YOU PASS THAT UP?!"

"LIKE, WHOOOA DUUDE. IT SOUNDS AMAZING!!" etc. etc

SIGH. Of course I have noone to blame but myself, even thou it was a splendid purhcase! Hell, I even talked the guy down 10 bucks. I didn't even have enough money to buy it and being excited as I was, I told the dude I'd give him the 30 bucks in my wallet and run to the bank to get the other 200. However the guy was like "sorry we close at 4" and it was 3:59 already! He wouldn't stay open the extra 10-15 minutes to make a $200 sale  He was all like, "well you can give me like 20 bucks now and come back monday and pick it up and pay for the rest," but who wants to do that in the middle of haulted jam session, already so excited about the purchase?
To be honest, I might have not purchased it if I was forced to return monday but the story doesn't end here, no siree bob! My friend, who already had given me all the encouragement and more to put me in the buying mood, happened to have a couple hundred bucks in his wallet. Well if that didn't seal the deal, I don't know what did. Obviously, I'm sure you can figure out what happened then  Funny thing is, if my butthole friend had never broke his measly $10 bass strings, I wouldn't be sitting here with my new $200+ baby :)
What suprised me the most was how heavy it was, being a imitation you would think they wouldn't have made it as nice as it was but hell, I could never honestly tell a difference between sound and build in this "made in china" model and the authentic $1,000-2,000 Les Paul original. It looks like despite the cheap price tag, Arbor used some higher quality parts then other companies would use for a copy-cat model. Hell, either way I'm happy as shit! I got a sweetsounding guitar and I didn't have to take out a freakin mortgage on my home to pay for it! :D

How can I brag and swing my nuts around so much with out showin off some pics:

Ha, I haven't owned a new guitar in almost 5 years! I thought it was a little overdue, don't you? Rick Nielsen, since when did he have good taste in straps? HA, j/k. =)
