Yeah so anyway first my desk lol. I'm always building onto it. My latest addition is a shelf off to the left side. The reason for it is so I could center my screen and get my monitors set up better and positioned properly. Before I did this everything I listened to sounded so spread out and uneven. It's hard to explain, but I couldn't really tell how loud everything was or should be. It's hard to explain how everything sounded so out of proportion and in odd spaces in the mix.

I'm using Yamaha HS50M monitors by the way. So, what I did was flip them on their sides, position them, made sure they were at the same height and now everything doesn't sound so out of whack. I guess my mixes will tell the truth. I'll probably play with the switches in the back to see if that might help me understand what I'm hearing a little better.

I can't tell from the pic, but are your monitors lower than ear level?

The guitar on the right, what is that in between the pickups? A sticker? lol :)

Exact thing I thought.
The top of your computer monitor should be at eye level. As your eyes and ears are at a similar height, your audio monitors should really be up near the top of your computer monitor, so that you can hear them properly.
They should also be as wide apart from each other as they are from your head, so as to make an equilateral triangle, aimed directly at your head.

They might need to go a few inches higher, but I think if I sit back and relax it's just about right. I took the pic standing up. Both the monitor and speakers are sitting on a shelf that I built across the desk because it only has a little shelf that you can still see sticking out on the right of the desk right above where the PC is inserted. I'll eventually get them a few inches higher once I find something to put under them. Right now they are sitting on Styrofoam that they came packaged in. I got my saw and just cut them out. I figured it should be as good as foam or mo-pads, but who knows lol. I'll keep tweaking the set up and make some measurements over the next few days...

It's a transformers autobot sticker :P
