I just dropped my Tube MP from about 3 feet. I'm not set up, so as to see if it still works. I hear no "ratteling or crunching", what do you think? Anyone know first-hand how tough they are?
Thanks- titan

mine is somewhat broken since dropping it 3 feet. It still kinda worked, but you had to crach the output, input and +20 to get it to register a sound.

I thought maybe it was just the unit and my crappy stock soundcard. But now I also have a DMP3 and RME Multiface and the thing is obviously broken. not sure what to do. thought i could try to replace the tube, but don't know if it would prevent the unt from working if it broke.

Don't know what to do, but there is something wrong with it for sure.

I must have dropped mine about 100 times, and it still works fine.

Mine seems to keep getting quieter and quieter all the time, as well. I'm guessing the tube just needs to be changed.

100 times? How the hell do you drop a preamp so often?

Two words: short cables.

I know, I know . . . two more: patch bay. :D

Remind me not to lend you any ribbon mics! :D

Playing with my first 4 track years ago in the garage, my dog walked through some cable and pulled the recorder off the table. That sumbitch BOUNCED like a basketball - nearly to the height of the table!

VotaIdiota Well, it's a start!

Hey, watch it fella. We're on tight budget down here.

Yea, I know. I did lob it right over the plate for ya. Oh yea, I finally got the studio up and running last night. The Tube MP seems to be just fine. Well, what I mean is, it's working. Now I'm pissed because it think it sounds like crap.

So, any suggestions on a better pr-amp, in the same price range? I could research the archives. Nahhhh.

M-audio DMP3. $200, 2 channels. I have it. I like it. For me was light years ahead of the ART, though, as stated above, mine might not be working right.

Others have talked about the Audio Buddy (<$100), VTB-1 ($179 1 channel), soon to be released, maybe RNP ($~400, 2 channels).
