Not every single time...Anyway, I don't want to hurt my NT1 when applying/removing phantom power. I suppose I have to make all cable connections first then apply power, correct? How long should I wait after the power is off before removing the cable? And when I hear a "pop" sound when removing the cable or plugging it in, am I damaging the NT1? By the way, I use a Rolls PB23 for phantom power.

You are correct and should wait probably a good 30secs or so. If it works the next you try it, it probably isn't damaging it. But if it doesn't work next ime, I guess you'll know, huh?
