I can't run my BIOS!!

hey everybody

well it's 3 in the morning and i'm up killing time. I wanted to get into the bios on my computer just to fuck with shit, ye know, cause problems for myself. I read in an article to push delete before the OS boots. Well i've tried this as well as Escape, F8, Ctr-Alt-Del. I've even resorted to mashing the keyboard as soon as i start my computer and no dice.
If it helps i'm running windows XP home edition. How do i look at the BIOS menu?

Usually in the beginning of the boot process there is a short splash screen, which tells you what button to push to get into the BIOS.
Usually you should be able to freeze this screen by pressing "Pause" on your keyboard at the right moment.
 
no dice on the F2...

There is also nothing before the windows xp screen appears... the screen is totally black.
 
Is it a brand name computer?- Dell, Compaq- anything- ? That might help- usually there will be a black screen with a little logo (Pheonix or Award or something)- and a press <?> to enter BIOS- try hittin the tab key too.

If all else fails smashin the keyboard has worked for me but you said you already tryed that.
 
haha ya smashin the keyboard just caused some beeping. My computer is a toshiiba. i'll give tab and ? a try. by ? do you mean / or ? (as in shift adn the key?)
 
I just meant that it would tell you a key to hit- not to actually hit the ?- sorry shoulda been more clear.

haha i guess it's a safety feature that toshiba installed, they musted have figured that if people aren't smart enough to get into the bios, they shouldn't be messing around in there. Well i'll show them!! i'll show em that anybody can mess up their computer with enough effort!!
