I can hear the metronome in my recordings

I was recording in Sonar Cakewalk with my Presonus Firebox. I took the line outs of my keyboard and inputed them into the Firebox, so no microphones were used at all, leaving me perplexed as to how the metronome snuck onto my recording, hehe. I used the audio metronome on cakewalk, and I played it through some speakers that were hooked up with a 1/4 to 1/8 inch adapter to the headphone output of the Firebox while I recorded my keyboard.

Here is a sample of my recording that has the metronome, just skip to the end of this song, where the keyboard stops playing, and it will become clearer that you can hear traces of the metronome. You may have to turn up your speakers as it is very quiet. Also, be sure to skip to the end of the song, when you can hear the metronome better because the keyboard stops playing.

How is it possible for the metronome to appear on the recording when I was not using any microphones? And how can I stop it from being heard on my recordings?

I could barely hear it. That is kind of strange. Seems like a hardware issue.

This could be your trademark, just tell people you recorded alongside a big old vintage warm sounding tic clock. But seriously, it's so barely audible, I wonder if it's an issue with Sonar and no-one has really given attention to it. It's the kind of thing you hear only when someone points it out, maybe it's just my cheap headphones not making it apparent right now...

After having played for hours with a metronome, I can still hear it for hours 8-|

I turned up my speakers full blast at the end, and all I heard was one click that I guess was the metronome. I don't know how on earth you heard that.. if you weren't looking for it..

Well, the metronome is definitely there in my recording, but you're right, it is barely audible, so I guess it's no big deal. But it does kind of annoy me because for some reason, when I listen to it on my headphones, even at not very high volume levels, the metronome click seems to like resonate in my mouth/nose area or something, making it feel weird. It's kind of hard to describe. But that doesn't happen when I listen to it on speakers.

I suspect the output that the click is routed to is being monitored on the input and hence being recorded along with everything else. (There is a classic issue with SoundBlaster cards where they have this "What U Hear" setting that routes everything passing through the audio streams of the card into the recording input... maybe there's a similar seting on your card and that's what's going on.)
