how do you know so much about computer audio if you record on a fostex?

I do a shitload of reading because I will not always record this way. I am going to build a studio from the ground up, and it's going to be hybred analog/digital affair, with a DAW as the recording medium. I don't want to spend all that money, and end up in here in the newbie forum asking how to make it work, so I research everything...

I say that I would like to have a POD pro without knowing the power of the tools you listed. Is it still necessary? How do you guys feel about POD's?

I use a Digitech RP50 and a Line 6 Spider II 15 as very cheap pods. I've heard some good tones out of VOX's pod.

I like the versatility though I give up a smidge of tone for it.

In a perfect world there'd be a room off the studio with every real life amp in a POD so you wouldn't have to fake it.
