So, I found a Yamaha 01V on EBAY, with an ADAT card installed, for $700 and got it.

Could I please get your recommendations on what I should purchase to get the audio (digital) into my 1.8gh pentium running win 98 pro.

I will be using it to record drums. I use Sonar 2.0.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am a long time reader, but have just begun to put together my studio. I am a lifelong drummer/pianist looking forward to having a project studio.

I use a Motu 2408mkII as the means to get 10 tracks digtally from the 01v (ADAT + left/right spdif out). Using the 4 Omni outs gives you 14 tracks simultaneously from the 01v. With Cubase SX I am able to use the 01v as a control surface via midi.

MOTU

Thanks for the feedback.....

I read up on theMotu 2408mkII and it seems like a bit of overkill. Do I really need the 8 audio inputs if I am going from the 01V to PC via digital? Did you buy the Motu 2408mkII specifically for this setup or did it all just "come together " as you added to your setup?

I was wondering if some sort of PCI card would be a simpler, and cheaper , solution.

Terratec EWS88D would be a good choice in this particular case. It's got ADAT i/o and midi i/o and I quess that's all you need.

How many tracks at once? If you add a few bass or guitars at the same time...?

thanks

I bought the Terratec adat card as recommended. That will give me 10 tracks total into the PC.

Thanks for the help guys.
