I appear to have completely abandoned dynamics. Awesome!

Listening to the new mix.

Sounds super thin. Where are all the bass frequencies? Still it sounds cohesive enough. I like it though, in a low-fi point of view. It's pretty damn lo-fi sounding, but that's not a bad thing, cause the song is cool. Sometimes that works. Reminds me of They Might Be Giants. I really like They Might Be Giants! This is what home recording is all about. Expression. This song is big on expression. It could still use some low end.

Sounds like They Might Be Giants or Something. I like it. Second mix is better. Major problem is the source signal, though.

It's quite possible that I got mixed the bass frequencies out in a desparate attempt to make all the instruments clear.

Thanks for the TMBG comparisons. They do some good stuff (though honestly, I don't listen to them much.)

I've got a co-worker who's always ragging on my signal chain to. I'll probably get a better interface eventually.

Much, much clearer. Good job of removing alot of the muddiness. There's still some but that's as much an artifact of the one mic in the uber-room scenario as much as anything else.

I like the remix of the keys especially...much more coherent.

I think if you just tried, across the entire mix, a bump of about 2 to 3db@ 2.5k, 4k, and 8k, the mix gains some life. Also, just for grins, I brutally bumped the entire mix at 75hz with a shelving eq, almost 12db. Holy crap! The bass guit came back into the mix and kick sounded like a kick.:D It's a weird eq plot, but it seems to work. :o
