Hello all,

ok I have a electribe mx and a microkorg. cool, very nice great fun BUT:

How do I assign KEYS from the keyboard to different sounds on the electribe, now I know I need to use midi and I understand that the keyboard and the electribe have midi CHANNELS, and I need to assign one to the other....ok in theory but this still doesnt explain how I get it to play different SOUNDs when I press different key ? Please can someone explain this VERY simply to me....sorry for being thick. but I will learn.

it's been a while since I've used an electribe (used to play the EA-1)...but, basically all you have to do is go to the Midi section on the Electribe and choose a channel (1 thru 16) to send messages out on (set it as a slave). To set the keyboard, you'll have to look at the manual and find where it says "setting up keyboard as a master controller" then plug a MIDI cable into the Midi Out of the keyboard into the Midi In of the Electribe, simply select the channel and you'll be all set!! One important thing to note is that MIDI is only messages and notsound, a lot of people don't realize that. So in essence all your really doing is sending the tribe 'information' about which sound to play. hope that helps!

by the way, don't feel bad about not getting the hang of it.. Learning MIDI is a major pain in the ass. Just keep at it and eventually you'll be able to read MIDI implementation charts as if they were the sunday comics!
