Ok, I am very new to recording and i am young, i wont say how young but i am still in school and live with my parents. My DAW is Apples GarageBand, and my mic is the one that comes with the mac (Getting better one for birthday). Currently all i do is singing, there is no problem with my vocals or microphone, yes i also have good headphones. My simple issue is when i try to produce on Apple's Musical Typing thing on Garage Band, its basically A MIDI keyboard that is onscreen and you use your computer keyboard. As I was saying, When i try to produce it sounds soooooooooooo bad and i dont no what to do. I will do an Instrumental sample and upload so u can see.

ty for any help

Welcome to the forums :) Don't worry, there's loads of us younger folk here (you're 14... your Youtube channel gave it away). I'm still living with my parents :p Anyway, on to the question...

Errmmmm, do you mean bad as in the samples/patches being played sound bad, or the actual music sounds bad? Listening to that sample it just sounds like you've had a bit of a fit on the keyboard, and so with no structure, rhythm of musicality about it, its going to sound bad... well, unless of course you're purposefully composing in that kind of way in free time with atonality, dissonance (though strictly speaking dissonance is not atonality by definition). But I'm guessing you're not aiming for that...

Maybe some music theory lessons? Even some basic instrumental lessons, maybe on the piano, would help you pick up some fundamental understanding which you may or may not have developed if you've only ever sung.

If you did mean the actual sounds of the MIDI instruments and not the music itself, please ignore everything I've just said and hope you don't take insult from it :) Err, you'd be looking into getting some better VSTi's, sample packs, etc, if you wanted to improve upon the sounds you're getting from MIDI, though I'm not sure if Garageband can deal with this.

Yeah, i plan on getting Keyboard/Piano Lessons.

Thanks, much Apreciated, and yeah as i said i only do Vocals, nothing else
