I am Buying a Home studio and need help with the equipement!

hey guys, here it is. I am setting up my first home studio and i need your opinions of all the gear i am buying cause i really am still learning.

Digitech 001 Factory Bundle-is this good recording/editing/mastering gear?

SM Audio PR8, 8 mic pre-amp expander-good quality mic pre's?

Beringer HA4600 headphone pre amp

AKG K270S Headphones-i can't afford monitors yet for a while

RODE NT3 mics x 2-are they good mics for vocals, cab miking and drum overheads?

4 x pairs of Pro 2 PH565 headphones- for the musicians to wear

Well, why dont you tell us if you are gonna multitrack or track separately...... What mixer will you buy? You want Digi 001, I guess youll be using a Mac?

If you are planning to use the Digi 001 Factory Bundle with a PC (BEWARE)... The Bomb Factory plug-in's that come with the bundle do not currently work with Windows XP (PT 5.3.1)

the consensus on that IS "They are working on it"

If your plan is to use a Mac also (BEWARE) Mac OS X is not yet supported (but soon will be with PT le 6)

My advice would be to wait just a few months... se what happens

If you cannot wait at all... get the Digi 001... without the Bundle

issue:
When PT le 6 come out... it is very conceivable that the Factory Bundle Plug-in will NOT work with the Mac OS and PT program.

Some of the Factory Bundle plug-ins still do not work with the windows XP platform (ie the cool Bomb Factory Plug-ins)

yeah thanks guys, i am running windows XP on PC , and i will be multitracking. I will be recording straight from the mic pre's and then mixing in real time using the programs real time mixer, not a outboard mixer yet! i was counting on the factory bundles plug-ins to mix down with, so shrefit, what is an alternative to get them working? thanks

I just got the Roland VM3100Pro studio package. It comes with the Emagic Logic Software which runs fine under WinXP (in Win98 campatability mode). You can also use the 8track mixer to control the software, which is handy. 20track can be recorded and played in total. The price tag is also not too hefty (around 700 buxx). I am very happy with that setup. Much cheaper than a MOTU setup, since you don't need a separate controler/mixer.
