I'M BLESSED.......
Yo that movie put a couple of notches in madd dudes egos.........i can't tell you how many cats done ran out and bought equip, got their baby's momma singing hooks, and their rhymes are straight doo-doo anyway!!!!! It's a good flick to peep, especially seeing the white cat lace the MPC, and reminiscing of how we all started in our rooms with taped mics, egg crates, etc..... But don't get it twisted, you still must hone your craft!

ha, ha. yeah, i'm pretty sure that movie inspired a lot of people. i damn sure felt remeniscent. hell, i still have the tape player and egg crates, lol...

No doubt dude who started this thread is right...too bad 90% of them wasted their time money and dreams...

i really like whenever they are first starting and dj qualls (white kid) brings the beat in on the MPC. i get really pumped, haha.

The movie was good but they billed it on a stereotype concept. po ignorant pimp with a white girl gone make it out the hood together. Dont get me wrong i aint prejudice. I only see pink lol. But the movie was actually better than the marketting. I know a lot of cats who passed up on it because of the billing then actually saw it on video (bootleg of course) and was like dam that was actually good

Q: What sort of preparation did you do to play Shelby?

DJ: I spent a week in the studio with Al Capone, a local Memphis rapper, learning how to operate an MPC and learning how beats are made. And what you see in the movie is how kids across America are making hip hop in their basements. They have these little machines that they buy, and somebody comes up with a beat and a hook and some flow and then you’ve got a song.

I thought the movie was great. A few people have criticized Terrance for being in a movie like that, but I don't think they understand the message of the movie. To me it was the classic story of the stuggle people go through when following their dreams, and trying to make their life better. Just because it wasn't the presented in a Disney-like wholesome farmboy trying to play major league baseball way, they want to criticize it. Just because you don't like the reality it was presented in dosen't mean it doesn't exist. That was real street cat on the grind. Nothing glamerous about that, just staright reality. But Hollywood on a whole was able to see that. It's hard out here for a Black director, but that's one more for 'em.......

By the way everybody go check out "Idlewild". It's the first film from a good friend of mine, Bryan Barber. Please support.
