There are lots of very helpful research and implementation documents over at genelecs web site that are free for your reading and education ( even if you don't buy there monitors ..NICE!)
Poke around SOS for even more articles related to monitorinf and setting up a proper mixing environment
If you have to put the monitors close to the wall or corners , the boundary effect will " Pump up the bass" .... One real nice thing to have on a monitor is an adjustable shelf to cut some bass gain if you are experiencing to much re-enforcement from boundries...
I'd go with the 8' woof if the box has a low shelf cut on it ; better to have a driver that can provide the power easily and throttle it back if needed as opposed to a smaller guy sweating hard and more likely to distort.....
