The Pie Guy
well.....

this is the third tune that I think I got good drums on....

I'm on a roll.........get it?.......on a roll?.....

Nowhere aint workin' right now.....
I'll upload it later there........

it's at Soundclick........Country Swing.......

the guits are ass......at least the six string is....the 12 string actually has a decent tone I think....

I was also bass shy in the mix due to previous postings....

Waddaya think fellas?
Lyrics are to come...

I like the chord progession of the tune and the guitar doesn't sound bad. The drums can use some work.

The worse thing about electronic drums are and have always been the cymbal sounds. If your going to go with them, I would suggest backing off on all the crashes. I would loose the ride cymbal too and stick with a closed hi-hat sound. That will enable the time to be there and sounds less"fake."

Also, panning them hard left doesn't work for me. They should be much more towards the middle to my ear.

Yeh I agree, drag the drums back to the middle.

What's that strange clop clopping sound all the way through? Reminds me of Python & the Holy Grail haha. I streamed the audio, so maybe it was just my player.

The song itself and the swing feel are very pleasant

Thanks fellas....

I am a dunce..........
I re-mixed and brought the drums full stereo...

I'll work on the cymbals too...

that "Holy Grail" effect is a rim hit...
not coconut shells.......

wish I had me some coconut shells.....

New mix is up at Nowhere......
Thanks again fellas...

Aw man you got rid if the shells!

Yeh that sounds a lot better, I can hear those rim shots now

Thanks man...
I am truly a dunce....

I didn't realize that I recorded in Mono....what a dope....

Thanks again,
Joe

(didn't read other replies)

the kick n snare sound good to me , and the cymbals levels are good too

I was streaming and couldn't pick my spots, but I think it was at 0:42 the roll comes in too early, I was expecting a chord change

somewhere after about 2:30, there is a china(?) on the "1" for about 4 measures, you might want to rethink that {I didn't catch it on the nowhere version}

since you already know about the 6-string I won't mention it

can't wait to hear the lyrics

oh, I see you put it up at nowhere, I'll ck. it out

ok, the 6-string sounds better now, there seems to be one chord that stands out (getting my 6-string now) it's the A

the newer version does sound better.........i'm not listening on headphones or anything, but the drums sound pretty good.......some good variety.........the intro part seems a touch off with that reggae type fill that's repeated a few times, but it seems to fall into place shortly after that........

Yeah, buddy - the kick and the snare are working, especially the snare - sounds very 'real' to me. The ride cymbal is a bit bright -but the crash sounds like a splash. The piece of advice about the hi-hat might be worth some investigating 'cause I tend to agree that the cymbals are where drum machines and computers fail.

Sounds like it'll be a cool song! Nice lilting, rocky rhythm to it! I'll be here when it hits!!

Nice and full sounding joro, little glitches but hey thats my specialty. Recording an acoustic can be a bitch, I don't even try, but I think you've got a good base. Waiting to hear the end result. Thanks for the post

I liked the melody of what you've got there so far. I listened to the Sound-Click MP3. I guess this will be called the Coconut shell mix?:)

I am not sure of what to suggest on this other then doing a simpler rhythm pattern that you can play along with tighter and then afterwords, go back and edit up the drum kit with fills and cuts and you will probably end up with a tighter overall performance.

Mix-wise, I liked the guitar's sound and then the bass once it finally kicked in but it sure would be nice to hear some vocals on here to keep up the interest factor as a listener.

Keep at it, man and take frequent pie breaks!

Cheers! :)

pie?...................I like pie............and cake................ :D

Thanks fellas.....
I am gonna work on a tighter performance and some lyrics for this....
I did re-track the six string.....the "A" sounds better for sure....now the frickin' 12 string sounds out of whack....oy-vay....
I'll have to re-track that next....
I changed the intro and ending too...got rid of the "reggae".....

new mix is up at both sites....
Thanks fellas...

Joe,
Sounds like a good base for a song. I thought the drums sounded good from what I could tell behind the guitars. :) The others have touched on the issues.

Wait, I just realized I listd to the Sounclick version and it looks like some things were changed.

Back in a minute....

That sounds better, but basically the same comments apply. Get to work!!! ;) :D

Thanks for checking it out Todd......

yeah.......I gotta work on it....and write the lyric too...

I am gonna re-track the 12 string in the morning....
when it's quiet here......

Thanks man,
Joe
