first off, i am not a drummer, i am a guitarist whos working on a demo for my band. our drummer has his kit here and i was trying to find a way to record it with only one mic, so please do not judge me on my playing, i just want to know how it sounds and any tips.

I used a audio technica dr-cx1 condenser just over my right shoulder and a presonus pre amp. from there it went to my sound card and into three tracks in adobe audition. one was eq'ed with a V, another was a gated reverb, the third on the first track was dry and the second had compression. I am only 15 years old and all of my money goes to guitar parts or my social life, so i dont really have a budge to buy any other mics right now.

thanks

edit: hmmm im curious as to why so much bass got added? when i played it through audition everything sounded fine and now the bass seems to over power everything else...could this be the site or what?

for one mic it sounded pretty nice..

thats a very smart idea actually.

i do the same since i only have 4 ins with my delta 44 (dulicate the overheads for the toms)

it sounds ok..
the cymbals sound very dull and like your hitting a garbage can..

what set was used?

its a gretsch (sp?) renown maple 6 piece set. the cymbols we used were cheap though, 302 high hats. a b8 pro crash and a china star crash. ill see if i can do anything about making them sound better, maybe move them closer?

wow it sounds really 70's

I guess that is a good thing if you want it to but I personally don't like it

yeah try to move them closer...

experiment is good.
