how's my snare?

I just watched a youtube video that said to tune your bottom head to "A" and the top head to a C# or C however, his snare was alot smaller than mine.

I will have to check the dimensions but I have a really large in volume snare; it's actually a marching band snare.

should I go to a lower pitch than him, you think?
