I just noticed you have a voice that sounds like Bob Dylan ala Nashville Skyline.
Not a bad tune at all. The drums could come up a little. The lead with the distortion just doesn't work for me. A clean voice witha nice verb or delay would have gotten more mileage IMHO.

Very live sounding, far off drums, maybe you could bring them closer with less reverb or higher volume, guitars all worked well, as did bass, great song too!

Are those electronic drums? sounds like it....For the mood of the song you could have just tapped a real snare drum. When the snare does those triplet hits it just doesnt sound natural to me. I also agree with above about the distortion solo, The tone doesnt seem to fit with the mood of the song.

On the positive side I really like the song! The vocals have a nice quality to them, and theres some interesting musical bits going on in the background. Keep up the good work! Strat

What??? - I LOVE my distortion solo! I like that sound so much I am using it in everything I do - maybe that's the problem! Got tunnel vision I guess - I haven't tried a cleaner sound but I will have a go to see what it sounds like. I suppose my idea was to contrast it with the gentle part that precedes it. Track Rat I'm gonna take the Dylan reference as a complement anyway - the old voice has acquired a more 'lived-in' quality over the years, though I did try to soften it up for this one. Kingston and Strat - thanks for your comments too - I am a bit stuck for drums - I just put together midi files from a collection i have - in my other mixes they had been too loud so I was perhaps over-cautious here - I'll take another look at it. Thanks again.

Cheers

Malgo.

malgovert my friend, the Dylan reference was most definately a compliment! It's a sound that emotes character.

malgovert,
I like the flange on the (midi?) sax thats panned to the left, great job on panning with the wind instuments. I agree on the drums being too set back, and the clean guitar, and the mellow strings (if thats what I heard). Which maybe leads me to conlude that the vocs should come down a bit to set them in the mix a little softer (a BIT more reverb would probably be nice :))
Just my very humble thoughts!

Take care, S/R
