Hey people!

I haven't had a chance to really put much up here lately as i've spent most of my time playing live, writing, and all that other crap that comes with band promotion.

Anyhoo...in preparation for our upcoming CD that we're hitting a studio in a couple weeks, we're trying to record all the songs ourselves to make sure we've got them in a good place, so it isn't all that needed to be absolutely perfect as we'll be re-recording all this...although i obviously like it to sound as good as possible regardless. these will essentially be our blueprints to work from.

Here's basically a random song from the bunch...

It's not really crucial at this point, but i think the low end might still be a little fat. there's also no guitar solo yet, but you get the idea.

If anyone cares, this pretty much all i used...

Studio Projects B1 (on guitars, PA speaker for Bass, and one side of overheads for drums)
Studio Projects C1 (on vocals, and the other side of the drum overhead)
Presonus Firebox (my input into my lapto)
Old Mac Laptop

Any feedback would be sweet! Cheers!

Sounds like a good mix to me.
I don't hear anything standing out as odd.

You guys are awesome. Just thought I'd let you know that.

Hey, this is a good song!
The guitar picking at 1:58 kinda stuck out to me: Kind of sounded like it was recorded at more of a distance from the mic then other instruments, or maybe could use some small filter or eq. That's it from my opinion though!
I really enjoyed the song, both lyrics and musically! I'd definately bump this in my car. Looking to get more of your music in 3....2...1.... <click>

thanks...

ROCKNROLLOVER: Thanks...thanks for checking it out and replying.

SPLOOIESIR: cool...thanks!

GUITARER: Damn nice of you to say. thank you very much!

SNAKEEYEZ: Thanks for checking this out. yeah, and i think you're right. steve, our lead guitar guy was mentioning that is sounded like there was a weird effect on that, and it was basically because he was kind of moving all over around during the take. he'd be up near the mic for a bit and then kind of fade back into my couch away from the mic allowing a lot more room noise to come in...stupid steve...anyway, it's not nearly as noticeable with all the other instruments, but good ear.

I've heard all these tunes off the new CD so many freakin' times that i can't even tell if they're good anymore. I know i thought they were decent enough to keep working on back in the day, but you kind of desensitize yourself to it, so then your just kind of riding on that memory of...well i think it seemed like it'd be a cool tune.

Anyone have any suggestions as to added percussion. I know we'll most likely be adding some shakers, conga...bla, bla, bla, bla... all that stuff here and there to give the tunes a little more life. We also need the lead dude (steve) to put in his solos so those dead parts will come to life a bit more as well.

Listening to some more of your work from your website... gotta say that it's amazing. I'm a new fan. :D
This would be some great music to snowboard to this winter, or to just groove to while driving. Great "make ya feel good" music! I didnt even know i liked this kind of music, hehe.
I think i'll have to buy your album! Great artwork / colors on your site, also.

SNAKEYEZ: Hey, thanks a lot! We seem to get a lot of that cross over from boarding type things...surfing, snow, skate...we've been used in like 8 surfing DVDs, a couple snow and skaters seem to dig us too. it's weird because we're pretty chill, but maybe that's what they like...who knows. anyhoo...thanks!

LIFES A FALLACY: REALLY?! wow...i thought it was pretty rough. it's literally 1 Studio Projects B1 and a B2 set up in an XY pattern about a foot or so above and in front of the drums. I killed about 7db around 450Hz and rolled off below 50Hz or so. so...i guess that's about it. but thanks!

Cool song - love the drums. And I like the break that begins at 2.53.

Nothing negative from me.
