If I need midi cables to hook up this configuration
-pc
-audiobox interface
-Yamaha keyboard/workstation

is there a right way and a wrong way to connect them.
They both look the same is there an "in" and an "out" or
is that arbitrary. Do you plug the "in" into an "in" or an
"in" into an "out". I can't afford to make a mistake.

The cord itself does not have an in and out side but your interface and keyboard should have specific ones for in and out

The audiobox interface is connected trough USB I think,

If you can tell me what kind of Yamaha keyboard you have then I can help you out more

Well by the way you said I guess you have MIDI on your keyboard. Connect the MIDI out on the keyboard to the MIDI in on the AudioBox and then change the input on your DAW to the MIDI signal. Good luck :D

Same as any signal chain.... out to in.

Why can't you afford to make a mistake?

You're obviously not in a position to actually just try both options to see which way works, yes?

Midi out on the interface plugs into midi in on the Yamaha keyboard, midi out on the Yamaha keyboard plugs into midi in on the interface. The cables have the same plug both ends so that does no matter which end of the cable is used.

Was that the question?

Alan.
