Linux Man...
How do I know if DMA is enabled in win2000? I have looked for box and had little luck. I have been having a few playback problems in CEP and wondered if that could be the cause?

Do you have a new computer with ATA 66 controller ? Check this out from a FAQ sheet.

QUESTION: Where is the "DMA" checkbox for the HDDs in Win9x?

ANSWER: The "DMA checkbox" that you’re referring to will not appear for any HDD connected to the an ATA/66 interface, the feature is automatically, and always, enabled as long as the BIOS detects the HDD as "Mode 4".

Probably holds true for Win2k as well.

You can have a look at your DMA settings by either looking through the BIOS, or using a nifty little program called X-Teq. You can get it from www.x-teq.com . It's basically a cool program that can tweak just about anything on a Win system, particularly if you're running NT.

email Slackmaster2000 for a link to the microsoft KB that tells you how to switch DMA on win2k. He sent me the link once and I didn't save it. You could also just go to microsofts knowledge base and do a search.
