About 6 months ago when I bought my m-audio oxygen i never phunked with it at all, but since i quit my band, i am reeady to try. ZTrouble is, i need some midi pointers on how to hook it up. I have it, a midisport 2x2, Cubase LE, and beer. When I tried a logical setup (oxygen MIDI out into midisport in, USB hookup) I got mad latency. Any idea how to get rid of this? I get so retarded when it comes to MIDI. I got all them free plugs that sound like nintendo games....im stoked.

um, u should just hook it up via USB to start. Turn down your buffers (128 or 256) and use ASIO drivers

K, by that you mean plug the MIDISport USB in and start rockin? And LE doen's have a buffer value that I can see, the latency is well over 1.5 seconds.

First of all, read these two good articles on midi basics --- part one and part two.

The source of your latency problems is almost certainly based on using 'emulated' midi drivers. You are probably gettting your audio to record well and play back so you are able to overdub parts, but the midi tracks are where the latency rears it's ugly head.

You might want to head over to the Cubase forum and they may be able to help you find a solution. I wrestled with Cubase LE for days until, as my Father says, I gave it up as a bad job and went back to using Tracktion, Reason and Live.

What sound card? It will be under devices/vst multitrack

Integrated Realtek AC'97
That's the problem.

Either go to KVR and download 'ASIO4all' or get a better soundcard --- one that comes with ASIO drivers on the installation CD.

u need ASIO4All drivers, i use my ac'97 onboard sound from time to time and it is reasonably stable, but dont expect too much

Probably not.

I have 3 soundcards running at once on my comp and they're all happy little playmates...
