Whats up everybody...my boy and I have been entertaining the thought of creating our own record label and I wanted to get some ideas about what goes into running a record label.

So far we have a roster of 3-4 "artists" with full or in progress projects that we would like to put out, but in order to do that what do we need to do? What kind of contracts, licences, other paperwork do we need, how should responsibilities be devided, if any profits are earned, how should they be split between the label and the artists? What are the primary responsibilities of a record label and their obligations to the artists on the label? How or why to "sign" an artist to your label.

Any info is appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Since suggesting that you read http://www.vmgworldwide.com/fullsite.htm is something that the idiot element finds so reprehensible, I won't suggest it :)

What I do suggest is that you contact the bi-polared Outlaws, BlueJackass Idiot, Flo' who doesn't look good in purple in the face Dolo, earthboundpsychicidiotdunderhead, and heed their EXACTING advice because they know sooooooooooo much ;)
