How to record???

have a bunch of songs that I recorded onto a tape recorder just so I wouldnt forget how to play them and stuff, but i want to record them again on a half decent recording program so i can put them up on myspace. I dont know anything about how to get them on myspace once i eventually record them. can anyone help as to what i need to do or what program to download so i can get people hearing my music. thanks.
