Hi,

I'm trying to export some voice audio files from .wav to .mp3.

The source .wav files are very good quality.
The .mp3's sound OK at 64 kbps but if I try and export at 32 kbps I get some metallic distortion.

Is there something I can do to the .wav files so as to get nicer 32 kbps .mp3's out of them? Could I use a compressor or any other DSP filter?

I use Adobe Audition and SoundForge.

BTW, if you need some audio samples to be able to help, just let me know.
Thanks!

no lol theres nothing you can do. 32 kbps is going to mess up the quality no matter what and there's nothing you can do to fix it :D

If you want them to sound at all decent, you will probably want to keep them at least, 128k. I do 192 for listening on my I-pod.

Thanks a lot for your replies. At least, now I know how I stand.
I've tried to give you all some points for helping me out - I hope this works.
