anyone help me on how to get the timing down?
I record my guitar
The i record my vocals
but i cant get em to mix properly, ones always faster then the other
i have a really really cheap setup
just soundforge and a mic as im not ready to spend more money yet
any tips on how to get the timing down?
thanks

Do you really mean that one is faster than the other, or is it that one is ahead of the other? If "ahead" is what you really meant, you probably have a latency issue with your soundcard. There are ways to deal with this.

If one is really faster than the other, my question is, are you monitoring the guitar track when you record the vocal? If not, how do you expect the timing to match?

how do i monitor the guitar track
is there a tutorial i can read somewhere?
thanks

Hmmm...

Without knowing what you are using to record, its impossible to help you learn how to use it.

Are you recording on a computer? What software are you using? What soundcard?

Are you using a cassette 4-track or a digital recording device? Which one?

Without knowing which recording device you are using, the best advice I can give you is to read the manual that came with your recorder, if you have it. Most devices come with at least a basic "get you started" section.

At any rate, a little more information will go a long way towards letting us know how to help.

Take care,
Chris

Okay
im using a crappy mic as im just experimenting
i have an acoustic guitar
i have a sb live value soundcard
and i downloaded sound forge off the internet
anyone help?
thanks

Sound Forge can't multi-track...

Best bet for it is to get a mixer... record vocals & guitar live at the same time, using the Master out's of the mixer into the Line IN on the SB...

BTW... Downloaded Sound Forge off the net? Kazaa or did you buy it?

If you downloaded it off Kazaa you might have some problems getting help around here cause people don't like people who pirate..
