How to mic indian percussions

For the Tabla, I'd think you'd treat it a lot like bongos, but it depends on how many we're talking about. If we're talking about Tabla Tarang, a coincident X/Y pair from a few feet away might be more appropriate.

For the Thavil... no idea.
