how do you match monitors to a power amp? just ohms and watts per channel? or anything else?

Hey Kristian.

Matching ohms is preferable. Most amps and speakers are 4ohms when it comes to recording gear. Also, having more power is better than too little. Cranking the volume too much (even if it isn't ripping loud) with an under-powered amp can damage your speakers(and the obvious flip side, using a 500W amp without discretion could easily melt your speakers). 100W per side @ 4ohms is enough power for most small monitors. 65W at 8ohms is ok to. Match impedance, get a good Clean (no audible distortion) and quiet (no wild hiss or hum) poweramp that has enough power to drive your speakers efficiently, within respectable volume ranges.
