The Akai GX-77 is not a true autoloader. First ensure that the loading roller up/down button is depressed to ensure the loading roller is down. Then thread the tape left to right take up spool, anchor on the reel and then press the forward play button. Just ensure though if you have a metal sensing strip wind the righthand takeup spool on past it otherwise tape will reverse when played. have fun. Rgds Gardi
