Yo ive never used soundfonts before. I use FL and i jus downloaded some piano fonts (.sfpack) so how do i ue em? lol, ive been usin FL over a year now and i still dunno this, help?
I think (may be wrong) that soundfonts only work with Creative Labs - SoundBlaster type sound cards. I have a SoundBlaster Audigy SE card and it uses soundfonts and comes with soundfont bank manager type software. I've purchased some professional soundfonts and they all seem to be geared for use with the Creative Labs cards.
If you have this type of card, you have to load the soundfont into the memory bank on the card, and then you can use your MIDI controller to play the soundfonts just like you would play a General MIDIl (GM) set.
No sj, soundfonts can be loaded into many different programs such as FL Studio and Reason. I use them frequently for Reason, but haven't in FL. I could research this for you Venom and find your answer.
just make a new soundfont folder in your FL STUDIO SAMPLES folder (C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\Data\Patches) **CREATE THE SOUNDFONT FOLDER IN THE -PATCHES- FOLDER** ..... place all your soundfonts in this folder from now on !!... then make sure you have the fruity soundfont player enabled (open FL Studio. select... CHANNELS/ADD ONE/MORE... then check the fruity soundfont player....) NOW JUST DRAG YOUR NEW SOUNDFONTS ONTO THE MAIN SAMPLER WINDOW and have fun... ( only thing is, you cannot preview soundfonts just by clicking on them in the sample browser)
yo as far as I know, you shouldn't even have to go through all that. Anything on FL 5 or later should already have at least the STR Ensemble soundfont, and therefore there is already a soundfont folder at data>patches>soundfonts. You can just drag SF2s in there, restart FL, and they should be in the menu under soundfounts
