Sorry folks. I'm an extreme newb to the midi world. Ive been recording for years, but know allmost nothing about midi. Heres the issue, I want to hear midi click tracs/drum tracks whatever. But I cant get them to playback through my monitors via the firepod.

I know the reason why is becuase the firepod has no midi synth to turn the midi signal into audio.. So what do I need to make the midi signals trigger audio? A plugin of some sort?

Thanks so much,
Josh

Start here with these two good articles on midi basics --- part one and part two.

Here's the basic structure for hearing midi playback ---

Midi controller -> computer -> software w/midi track + soft synth -> firepod -> speakers. There's nothing magical about midi sounds - they're just like every other sound except produced by a synthesizer, sampler, drum machine, etc.

They come out of the same output(s) as audio signals and the cool thing is that they're much more flexible than audio - you can slightly or totally change the part that a midi track is playing and have it go from a flute sound to a double bass to something completly abstract within the same song.
