Hello,

Last night I listened to the debut album of Black Rebel Motocycle Club.

I love this album, for it's songs, also for its' sound.

What I really love is the way the bass guitar blends with the rest.

Can anyone tell me:

1. what's the secret of this bass guitar sound (what frequency range is boosted/cut)?

2. How has this druggy sound been achieved? (is this mainly caused by extreme reverb on the voice or something?.)

Thanks in advance

Loads of delay and reverb.

I saw them play once to only a handful of people right before that first lp came out, and I can assure you that the majority of the sounds you're hearing have more to do with them and their gear as opposed to having a lot to do with the production.

Their guitar sounds remind of me of bands like Lush and My Bloody Valentine, but they're more of an actual rock band.

I would have to disagree and say that quite a lot of their sound has to do with production and mixing. I'm assuming your referring to the album Take Them On, On Your Own. That album was produced and mixed by Ken Andrews, who is very talented. There is a lot of delay and reverb on the album and distortion on almost everything, including the vocals and the bass.
