I'm an aspiring musician. I already own a guitar and I'm pretty good at it, but lately I've really started to get interested in doing remixes, but I have no idea on how it is done. What kind of equipments do I have to own? Can it all be done just on a computer? Plus, my comp is not very new, I don't know if it can handle this type of software. What is the most importante thing, a kick-ass soundboard, more RAM...please help me

If i had to cite the most critical piece or two for remixing, I guess I would say a sampler and a sequencer. Mainly so you can cut slice and add all the parts you want. Since this is a pretty expensive way to go, it can be done via the computer and software, but the setup would be very similair to a midi sutdio. Hope this helps.

You can do it all on a PC.
I do it on a 500mhz pc, with 64mb of ram.

Just think, what ever PC you have now, was once,
state of the art. and theres a good chance someone was making music on it.

The newer software, requires more power, but you get more out of it.

Its mostly just ideas you have, not the machine you use.
(i dont care what anyone says.)

You want to work with samples and sampling.
Learning BPM's and stuff like that.
One shots and Loops.

Theres a lot to learn, but nothing too difficult.
Its just a matter of figuring it out through trial and error.

I suggest finding a copy of Acid.
Since your machine is older, look for anything before acid pro 4.
It will probably fit your machine better.

but like i said,
Its mostly trial and error, and learning.
