How to copy track settings??

Hey,

How can I copy track settings from one song to another. For instance, I'm tracking drums with 8 mics through pres, converters and into Sonar. How can I keep track settings/names so that when I go to the next song, everything stays the same?

best bet is to create a new project and set up all your basic tracks and common settings - then save it as a template into your template directory. this way each time you go to create a new project, you have everything pretty much set up to do the tracking and initial mixing. saves a lot of time esp. when you have an idea and don't want to fuss.

i have my basic template set up for both individual tracks for drums + a stereo mix track. also bass, guitar, lead, vocal, piano, etc... + some midi stuff as well. all I have to do is create a new project, do a quick check on tuning (k-tuner is embedded in the rhythm guitar track in the template) and i'm ready to roll.

That's good news for future songs starting off... but what about when you've already got 5-6 songs layed down but not drums. Do it the old fashioned way of just setting each track? Or is there a way to copy stuff?
