The Devil Has Blue Eyes
Hi All,

I really needed a space to record vocals without all the sounds of my household disturbing me. I don't have a lot of money to put towards it so I've decided to create a make shift vocal booth under the stairwell in the basement with doubled up sound absorption blankets from Audimute. My problem now is that my Comp will be a good 7-8 feet away and I have no window in the booth to see the monitor. Any suggestions on how to control getting back to the start point of each take to re-record when I've put down a bad take?

Thanks,

I think a lot of people have that problem.

Off the top of my head I would say, get a USB extension cable and a little hub, run another keyboard and mouse into the booth. Also run a monitor extension cable (most video cards have dual output or S-video out, or get a Y splitter) and keep a small monitor in there. Then you can control your PC from either place.

Got a laptop?

Just set up screen sharing(osx) or a vnc server(windows)

That way you can see and control the desktop on the laptop.

+10 on th iPhone via RDP or a laptop RDP easy and no cables :)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

guitargodgt...can I use my IPad? If so, any idea how to set that up? My DAW is on a PC BTW.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I use an app called AC-7 core mini, it's available for ipad but probably doesn't have the mini next to it. I think I shelled $8 for it. There are youtube videos on how to set it up. It was cheap for what it does.

If you use cubase there is a free one for that program (and I can't remember the name of it) it only controls basic stuff though, but it might be ok. The above app controlls a lot. I know it works on either windows or osx and can control any daw (seriously it can control any daw)
